Are you having problems with Epic’s encrypted proxy (VPN)? Is Epic’s proxy not working or is the icon not showing up? Here are some tips to try.
- Bad news, was using Epic last night, browser was acting, say quirky on some sites, not wanting to load. Then I got a couple, maybe three warnings from ESET that my webcam had been blocked while on.
- When you visit a Web page that contains tracking tools from ad networks, analytics services, or social networks, Epic displays a transient notification summarizing what it blocked. If desired, you can add country-specific ad-blocking lists to the general lists already built into this browser.
- Open the browser, in the address bar type: chrome://settings/ 2. You will be in the Settings page, please go to the bottom of the page. Click on Advanced. Go down the page, here you will find Reset Epic, click on 'Are Epic features not working?' You will get a popup, click on Reset Epic. It will rest all the extensions.
Remember that Epic’s encrypted proxy is controlled by a red or green plug icon at the top right of Epic. You can turn the proxy on or off or change your country by clicking on that icon.
If you don’t see the proxy icon, then go to Epic’s Settings or Preferences Page. At the bottom of the page, click on “Reset Epic”. Then close and re-open Epic. That may bring back the proxy icon for you.
Hello Epic, My proxy doesn't seem to be working at the moment. Only when the proxy has been turned off can I access the internet. Could there be a problem with your server? I've checked the settings in my Avast Anti-virus and my PrivateFirewall to make sure that Epic is still allowed and it still is.
If pages aren’t loading or the proxy is very slow, it may be that the server you’re connected to is down or overloaded. Try changing your proxy country or try closing and re-opening Epic to connect to a different server.
If a particular page isn’t loading or is very slow, try turning the proxy off. It may be that that website blocks access via a VPN or proxy. Unfortunately more and more websites are blocking proxy access.
If you’re connected to a country, but a website says that you’re not in that country, please try closing then re-opening Epic to connect to a different server for that country. Then visit that website again. There are at least four major databases which map IP addresses to countries. They don’t always agree.
One IP address for a server may map to the UK in three databases, for example, with a fourth database mapping it to a different country.
For the highest level of privacy, use Epic with the encrypted proxy on as much as possible. We’re regularly adding more servers (Epic uses hundreds already) to keep the encrypted proxy fast for users all over the world. Please let us know if a particular country or server is persistently slow or if you have other issues. We’ll investigate.
Epic is a web browser that's based on the Chromium project, powered by the webkit rendering engine. It was designed for full privacy by removing all cookies and session data from the history once the application has been closed.
The look and feel of Epic is pretty similar to Google Chrome, supporting tabs, customization and other things common among most all Chromium-based browsers.
Epic Browser has several useful features up its sleeves such as proxy-based browsing which hides your IP address, do not track, blocking of third-party cookies as well as the ability to block advertisements.
As with Chrome, Epic fully supports multitasking by incorporating tabbed browser as well as offering the option to import settings and bookmarks from other browsers installed on the system such as Internet Explorer and Firefox.
